Born in Hamilton, New Zealand in 1958, Leigh comes from a family steeped in military history. Leigh lived in New Zealand until 1967, when her family was posted to Singapore, before returning to New Zealand at the age of eleven. In March 1972, Leigh relocated with her parents to Australia, has lived there ever since and is an Australian citizen.
Educated in the public system, Leigh’s schooling included New Zealand, Singapore, and Australia and, although she says she doesn’t have the intestinal fortitude for academia, in 2003, Leigh completed her Diploma in Business Management with RMIT in Melbourne, Australia.
Leigh puts her strong will, sense of humour, resilience, confidence, discipline, and aptitude for business down to the teachings of her father, the discipline of being a part of a military family, being educated in three different countries, experiencing a range of scholastic institutions, and meeting and working with people from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds.
Leigh has two children, who she says are her greatest achievements, and she’s very proud of the marvellous adults they have become.
Having gone the full circle of being single, married, divorced, de facto, de-defacto and now single again, Leigh resides in a leafy northern suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Leigh is an avid gardener, a keen reader of thriller novels, a fan of scary movies, and a coffee fanatic.
